Greetings from a half Brum in Ohio, USA.

Woodfield

New Member
Now retired and going all out to trace as much as possible about my Woodfield family from Birmingham. Mom, Marjorie Woodfield, was a Brum, served in the British Army during WW2, fell in love with an Army "Yank" and became a "war bride", settling in Ohio and raised five children, alone (Dad passed in 1955).
Looking now for help to track information on mom's (Marjorie) parents. My grandfather (James William Woodfield 1900-1950) either owned or just operated a pub in Birmingham or maybe Perry Barr. Name may have been Traveler's Rest, but not exactly sure.
James Wm Woodfield - Grandfather.jpgHoping I can find someone that can direct me in finding more details, documents, etc. Here's agreat photo of JWW behind the bar. Thank you all so much in advance.

The electoral rolls show James as follows:
1922,1925 1 Crown Avenue, Birchfield Road with James Nathaniel & Martha Woodfield
1927, No 4 court 4 Shadwell Street
1930,1935 No 4 court 4 Shadwell Street with Mary Woodfield
1939 No 395 West Boulevard, Harborne, with Mary
1945 108 Aston Road North with Mary
1947 and 1950 No 405 Bordesley Green

108 Aston road north is the Travellers Rest pub. 405 Bordesley Green is listed as a beer retialer, which for the directories at that time mean tit was an off licence, selling alcohol for consumption off premises
Below is a photo showing the Travellers Rest pub behind the van, probbaly taken around the 1940s or early 1950s
