Can anyone please find out for me if 24 Green Street Birmingham 12 was or is a pub. My great grandfather Robert French (who moved to 110 Hingeston street, sometime after 1877) lived at the above address, and he was a brewer.
Thanks
I have Checked both 1861 and 1891 census and no mention of the address being a Pub, 1861 the tennant was a 'Traveller' and in 1891 the tennnant was a 'Brass Caster'. Your relative may have been a 'Home Brewer' like my G Granddad was.
Someone else may be able to check the Trade directories for you...
Most of the directories around then do not list that address, except for the 1862 , which gives Nathan Lyons, hawker. so i'm pretty sure it wasn't a pub. He could have worked at a nearby brewery. The Hope and Anchor was also in green St.
