I think that I read that the one bombed shop was a fish and chip shop it would have been nice to see the row of shops before they were bombed Lyn

Hi All,

I lived in Carlton Road off Green Lane next to Victoria Street. The bombed building was indeed a fish and chip shop called 'Jacks' Jack and his daughter Hilda ran the shop but I never knew their surname so I do not know if they survived or not. They lived on the premises so it is doubtful but I hope and pray that they did.
