Green Lane, Small Heath

I couldn't find a thread completely dedicated to Green Lane although there are several with it in the title.

A couple of images after the tornado of 1931.

This photo of Green Lane Picture House shows the beer retailer's shop from the previous post, it must have been taken at a later date as the roofs have been repaired.
I can find no reference to Pinnick Radio and Television repairs.

Green Lane shop is in 1952 directory
Not in 1949 directory.

 

[Radiorails]

The "H" type television aerial used for reception of black and white 405 lines television service, (featured in post 2#) was introduced in the Midlands just before Christmas 1949. Transmitting from Sutton Coldfield it was the second transmitter outside of London.

Thanks Janice, I looked at the car and 'wrongly' assumed it was a 1940s image, I only checked up to 1949.

hi Pedro42. thanks for the pictures on #9 and#10 they allowed me to relive my life from 1945 to 1955 when I used all of the facilities in your photos from the library where we would hunt for the latest Enid Blyton to the swimming baths where we had Friday night baths (the water was always too hot) to the diving board where I used to pose before making my most spectacular dive to impress the girls.
