Re: Born in Birmingham

Melvyn i am not sure you can find actual address's before 1841.. the only hope you have is if you can find where they married and if an address is listed on the Marriage details... i am not sure what year they started doing this tho as i have one for the start of 1800 and there wasn't an address listed.... have you tried the IGI?? It's a Latter Day Saints site that lists most of the parish records, it isn't 100% proof but it's worth a try to see if you can find churches for baptism's etc, this will give you at least an area of a city www.familysearch.org.uk), i'm sure someone on here may have other ideas, they usually do and are extremely helpful were they can be :D

Re: Born in Birmingham

Hi greenstree
Dont know if this is too late or not relevant but by coincidence My Granfather moved to Longton S.O.T. Staffs. Bought a shoe repair shop there on Stafford St.about 1903. For some reason the family moved back to B'ham. Early 1920's. His name John James Green wife Maria. Two children born there James Thomas B1906 and George Arthur B1908.
Have been trying to find reason for going to Longton in first place. Not sure if this makes sense but do have a photo of shop with Grandad, Grama and child together with two other people standing in doorway of shop. C1908. Would be interested to know whether there is any family connection.
