Great Western Hotel Acocks Green

Think it might have been rebuilt Lyn.

Jack Hood didn't last long as a licence, he gave it up in October 1930 !! He set up a gymnasium at the pub, too. Decided to focus on his boxing career.

Looks like a replacement to me if it was at 10 Yardley Road. Think the original hotel opened around 1864/5. Maybe this is a 1930s (?) replacement.

The original details, presumably the building shown in post #1. Described as a country inn at the time but close to the railway station.

I don't like boxing either. The only reason I know about him is that according to my Mom her Dad (my grandad obviously) sparred with him but I have no idea when or where.
I have also had a meal in the Bell which had photos on display.
