Grave burialsh

Astonian

gone but not forgotten
HI FRIENDS
I Hope I am in the correct place and I would like to know or should I say asked the question
Regarding opening up a grave plot of a family grave if there was payment made for a family grave
For a three member bodies of the same family could be interned into it in the plot
I wonder if anybody can tell me why the grave cannot be reopend today since 1981 when the last person was
Interend in it today
The reason I have asked the question is because last Thursday evening my aunt
Whom was my God Mother died, at 4.30 pm at a Nursing home
This grave was purchased by my Aunt many years ago for 3 people to date, firstly my cousin her son,
Then her husband my uncle Douglas now we the family have been told that they cannot reopen the said Grave
It is now not permitted so we have to go for cremation and she cannot be hurried along side her husband nor
Her son ,she as lived at the Bottom of the Barr Beacons all her life until last Thursday the day she died
As my remaining cousin is struggling over what to do
ASD she lives in Telford does she take her to Telford or what is there a crematoria in streetly or Sutton Coldfield
May I asked many thank for your time in reading this and if any advice can be given to us
Best wishes Alan, Astonian,,,,

Sorry about your loss.
Have you asked if the ashes can be interred in the plot? I understood that a family grave is usually for 2 people but that ashes may be interred in addition to 2 coffins. (I am fairly sure that is the case for an aunt buried at Yardley).
I also think you can book a cremation at any crematorium but costs can be more if you live outside the area. I am sure an undertaker will advise what is possible.

Sorry about your loss.
My Father-in-law and his brother are buried in the same grave. When my Mother-in-law passed away her ashes were placed in the grave.

Hope this helps...

Hi jennyan ,PJ. And smithy
Many thanks for your condolences for our loss of our aunt Lilian my God Mother and a big thank you for all the advise
You have given me , we will of course look at our options its seems quite obvisiuos we have to take the cremation way
We are hoping it can be done in Sutton Coldfield or streetly crem, but we have to find out the cost
She was the second eldest of my dads family and she manage to out live them all my father was the first followed by his brother
His mother, his sister then the other sisters started to pass away my father was the youngest he was 42 years old
She lived at the bottom of those Barr beacons all through her life until 89 years old
Once again thanks to you all best wishes Alan Astonian....

Astonian,
Sorry to hear about this. If the grave Deeds say it was for 3, than 3 should be allowed. Cemeteries often try and doge it, if the grave is in an area where they cannot get a JCB in, as they do not like to actually dig anything hand unless pushed. If the grave is full of the number actually permitted under the grave deed, than Cremated ashes often scattered on, or placed just in the grave in an urn are happily undertaken by most cemeteries.
I understand Streetly Crem is booked ahead for several weeks - a friend has had to wait 3 weeks to get in there, but Undertakers can usually ring round and check availabilities - Don't forget Perry Barr Crem - Still private and there is Yardley, & Lodge Hill, which are further away, but if everyone is coming by car not too bad

Hi Brian
Many thanks for your reply this morning I will pass this to our kid and my cousin whom are at loose ends over this
Situation and my cousin is a lady and she is totally at watts end and very upset over this business at the cemetery

That was purchased for 3 people there is 2 bodies in there her brother whom was a serving police officcier and her father
She has got the paper work to prove it was bought

And we will per sue whom is in charge there I will let you know the out come when we have got the feed back from this cemetery
Once again Bryan, many thanks again best wishes as always, Alan,,, Astonian,,,,
