i know people have been kind in looking up the GODOLPHIN family before for me but could somebody look to see if there are any mention of a Rowland GODOLPHIN in any directories prior to the 1896 one.
 
In 1871 with his family

In 1881 Rowland is a footman in the household of Henry Settle(Captain in the royal engineers) at stoke ,Devon

In 1891 he is a general servant for William Brice,a barrister,in Bathwick Somerset
In 1895 he married Ellen goddard in birmingham and they had a daughter Ethel in 1896 birmingham

In 1901 Rowland is with Ellen and Ethel in clivedon St,Knightsbridge,he is a Lodging house keeper
