master brummie
Was born at 108 Gladstone road Sparkbrooke in 1948,Spent first 10 years of my life there and have great memories of the neighbours. We lived with my uncles family.who was bit of an eccentric. He changed his name from Leslie Kite to Don Cometa and started band called Don Cometa and his Latin American Band. There was only three members of the band all Brummies who played Wedding functions etc, One of his stories was how he sent postcard to Fire Brigade to report chimmney fire, the fire engines turned up on doorstep 2 days later. The paper got hold of the story with headline,Man calls fire brigade for house fire by postcard. Was fun time in Gladstone road
