gimblett maker

sheri

master brummie
I know there is a knowledgab le person on the forum who can tell me what a gimblett maker is please?
And I assume a stamper would be a man who stamps marks or logos on metal?
Thank you
Sheri

I think it is a gimlet. this is a bodging tool for making holes in sails

A gimblett is a tool for boring holes, a bit like an old style corkscrew, with a handle at right angles to the shaft

A Stamper may have been a stamper out of metal objects - possibly using a Flypress
