Hello , Astonian, Many thanks for the reply it was my dads cousin who was a bus conductor . My dad was a builders navey until he got a job at Averys factory
the shops in peel street were Williams , Davis and Forthbrookes . my dad did drink in the smithy as well as the peel and the queens head . i dont recall fred but do recall the hicks in fact i can recall them moving into to peel street turned up with funiture on a flat bed lorry .
David Jukes and me went to st Patricks together we were friends i wonder what happened to him . i also recall the sullivans who use to live near williams in back court yard and Robert MCquien . i do recall a muder in peel street in one of the houses close to the smithy pub , am i right there? .
our house did catch fire one saturday night we had to stay at number 2 and everyone rally round giving bits of funiture. this shows how neighbours helped each other then.
