My nans maiden name was Giblin - she & her 5 sisters & 1 brother all lived on washwood heath road Alum Rock - i do not know if these are the same Giblins has i do not know much about my nans family has she died when i was five(in 1970). All the other Giblins that i did know have all now died i think. I will ask my mum when she come back off her travels ?

When I was a cable jointer for the Post Office Telephones, I worked with a man named Len Giblin, he was quite a character, as many of them were.

I believe that at the time he lived in the Bristol Street area.

I've got a Giblin in my tree a bit further back than that.

Caused quite a bit of confusion, I always understood my ma in laws maiden name was Giblin but when I started trying to find her early details I couldn't.

I later found that her maiden name was Barlow and the the Giblin bit had come in because she was illegitimate and had been brought up as a sister to her real mother.

Don't ask, I'm still confused:) .E.

yes it seems the giblin familys are hard to trace somehow,
i have just found out that majorie giblins maiden name was Harper before she married john giblin.

And their one son john michael giblin had apparently moved to sutherland street yet i cannot seem to find this out????:(

I have found the one son john michael giblin in kingstanding
so i did some digging and found his moms grave in witton cemetary,
so if anyone knows of this family i'd be so grateful.

keeping you updated with my finds, it seems majorie giblin died in that house in Rocky Lane and there was an inquest into her death but cant seem to get hold of a report for this!

cant be certain if this was true or not so please let me know if you remember anything or you was one of the kids going round that house maybe we can find out what this family were like

If you type Inquest into the search box in the blue bar at the top of the page you will find all you need to know. However I think there is a closure date. A phone call to the Central Library is a good idea:)

thank you di.poppit i will look up that info today....
