Gibbons Marriage & Births

I wonder if anyone can help with the following Marriage & Birth Records, the gap of 14 years or so between the marriage and the births is a bit of a concern but later evidence would seem to fit.

Samuel Gibbons was born 1753 in Coventry. He married Clarissa Roper 8 December 1776 in St Martins, Birmingham. She was born 1758 in Birmingham, they had, if I am correct, 4/5 children baptised St Martins, parents noted as Samuel & Clary on family search.

Frances Ann Gibbons 26 July 1790 (Have all later information)
Hannah Gibbons 1 April 1793
Susanna Gibbons 11 Jan 1796
James Gibbons 30 Sep 1799

Plus Charlotte Gibbons, 23 Jun 1794 but mother noted as Leticia?

Regards

Colin

Hi have found found the marriage
8th Dec 1776
Samuel GIBBINS of this parish, bachelor
Clary Roper of this parish, spinster
by banns. both signed with X mark. I think the witnesses were Jonathan??? Davies and Dorothy Perry? but difficult to read.

Frances Ann daughter of Samuel and Clary GIBBONS baptised July 1790 (day missing on page)

Because of the time between marriage and first baptism and different spelling of surname do you think you have the right children?

Thanks Pollypops. Frances Ann Gibbons is my direct line, she married William Kirby 15 June 1810, Harborne, Staffs.

I was always concerned with the gap in years, so I'm not sure. I think from the information on family search that the children are related and I do not think that there would be many Clary's about.
Back to the drawing board I think.

Thanks again Colin.

Hi Pollypops, I have discovered a George Roper Gibbons, baptised 21 Nov 1787 SAINT BARTHOLOMEW, WEDNESBURY, STAFFORD Father's Name Samuel Gibbons Mother's Name Clary. Slightly different on family search but confirmed by an Ancestry Members hidden tree.
This leads me to believe they may have briefly moved from Birmingham.
Do you think that there might be any useful information on the other baptism's at St Martins?

Hannah Gibbons 1 April 1793
Susanna Gibbons 11 Jan 1796
James Gibbons 30 Sep 1799

Plus Charlotte Gibbons, 23 Jun 1794 but mother noted as Leticia?

Hi Colin,
Unfortunately at this time only the date, childs name and parents names were recorded - so only the information you already have - somtimes at the side it is noted when they were born but not very often. But no information for fathers occupation or address
Just checked James Gibbons 30th September 1799 - his parents are entered as Samuel and CLARAH Gibbons

Many thanks once again Pollypops.
I have now discovered another baptism in Wednesbury, (Samuel Gibbons 1 Apr 1782 - Married Jane Right, 5 Mar 1804, Edgbaston), so it looks like I do have the correct family and the gap in years can be explained.

Regards

Colin
