,George & Ruth Baker, Lion Public House, Lawley Street

Colin Jones

Brummie babby
I am trying to find out information on my great grandfather and great grandmother, George and Ruth Baker, who ran the Lion pub in Lawley Street. They are recorded as living there in both the 1891 and 1901 census but I have no record of their whereabouts after 1901 nor the date and place of their deaths.
I would also like to know about the Lion itself, which has long been demolished and wonder if anyone has any information or a photo of it that they could share with me. Even the brewery that it belonged to would help as I could contact them for information on their employees records.

george baker

he was still there in 1915 can't check further as our next Kelly's is 1921 he had gone by then if you search BDM from 1915 you might be able to locate is death

Hi John

Thanks for the information and the thumbnail from 1905 Kelly's. Although the entry for George Baker at the Stork public house looks promising, is there any other way of checking if this is the same person as my great grandfather as the name is a very common one.
Regards
Colin
