as janice has said if you could give us the name of your gt grandfather and maybe what year he was at the pub we could identify which one it wasDoes anyone have knowledge of a 19 century pub called the George and dragon in Birmingham. My great grandfather was " publican " of that establishment. I realise the implications of the title, " publican ", during that period.
I believe William Bennett was the license with his wife Selina. The Census placed them in The George and Dragon, but I can't for the life of me find the paperwork giving that information. At the moment " Find my Past ", won't let me view my old searches although searches were all payed for at the time.Perhaps if we know the name of the person and the source we might have a better chance of identifying it.
In the second picture there is a gap between 2 houses. This was called the opening which lead to 10 terraced houses and then to the canal. I lived with my family at No.7. The houses backed onto the paper mill and a path ran past all the houses and separated their gardens from...Hi Michele
