Geoffrey Hughes

Gone but not forgotten. R.I.P.
I am sad to hear that Geoffrey Hughes- actor has passed away. He was a great comedy actor for the most part. I remember him
in Coronation Street so well and also in "Keeping Up Appearances" which I watched over and over several years ago on a US Public Channel. I also saw him in Pantomime "Cinderella" in Vancouver many years ago. He stole the show. Rest in peace Geoffrey. One of the many Media reports that are now appearing online. https://www.rte.ie/ten/2012/0729/coronationsstreet.html

Yes indeed I was also saddened to hear of his passing. My childhood memories of him as binman Eddie Yeats in Cornation Street are still clear in my mind, he was a great double act with Bernard Youens who played Stan Ogden. His character of Onslow in Keeping up Appearances will remain famous as one of the great TV comedy characters. As Vernon Scripps in Heartbeat he was really brought in to try to fill the great void created when Bill Maynard left. Aside from the acting Geoffrey was always described as a warm and friendly man by all who met him.
