All 4 children emigrated together to the area near London Ontario, under care of the Middlemore Society. They left England on April 27, 1888, not long after death of father. They were placed in different families, but kept in lifelong contact. All became proud Canadians, and have many Canadian descendants but also respected their Birmingham origins and shared some stories with their families.
John George is listed on childrens' birth certificates to have been a Machinist, fitter, gunsmith, gunviewer .
He had several siblings, including Joseph (b. 1837; d. 1900; buried Warstone Lane Cem.) Emily Ellen.( b. 1849; d. 1911 in USA); Ann, Henry, Susan. (1851 Census) John George's father was John Garner (b. 1800? d. Birmingham); and his mother was Elizabeth Kibbler (Korbler? (b.1808, d. ?)
OL - lots of information - but also lots of questions, especially marriage cert., and social history of the lives they may have lived in that area of Birmingham and that time period, that led the children to be sent to Canada. I may be in Birmingham briefly in late May, and perhaps there are specific places that I could visit to get more information?
