The I.G.I. shows the christening for Francis Porter as the 9th. July 1832, with his birthdate as 3rd. May 1832, with parents William Porter and Mary. Could you see if this is correct and if there is an address or occupation please?
Also can you please have a look at the marriage for William Porter and Mary Tatton at St. Martin's on the 6th. February 1820.

Ann

Hi Shera,

That is such a help. Thank you! I'm descended from Francis, but as he was born before registration, I can send for the birth certificate for the youngest, Thomas Porter. Just to confirm the maiden name of Mary.
Really appreciate that help.

Ann

it would be a good idea to do that ann as on the marriage record it actually looks more like mary tallon but many of the t`s are not crossed so probably is tatton.

Shera,

I can't find a birth for Thomas Porter or Male Porter for the 1840 quarters April to June or July to September. So perhaps we wasn't registered. But I'm going to write to Birmingham anyway with the birth date. I might as well.

Cheers Ann

i cant find it either ann but ive checked again the baptism record and the info is correct. i suppose you cant lose by asking for the certificate but i dont think you will be successful. let me know what happens!

i found a burial for your family again at st. martins

sarah porter d/o william and mary buried 15.7.1824 aged 4 yrs.

little palmer street

two last burials for porters

elizabeth porter d/o william and mary bur.5.3.1837 aged 18 mts darwin st.

harriet porter d/o william and mary bur. 13.6.1839 aged 7 mths darwin st.

the last one could be useful. if you find that birth record you could send for that one.

No Shera, I don't think I will get one back either, but for the cost of two stamps, I'll give it a try.

And thank you for Sarah's burial. I was going to look for a marriage for her, as she isn't with them in 1841. Neither is Eliza.

I'll let you know, when I don't get the certificate back!

Ann

Shera, And thank you for those last two burials. And good news, there is a birth registered as Harriett Porter Aston Oct Dec v 16 p 155. Stands a good chance of being the right one. I hope so, as I would like to confirm Mary's maiden name.

I'll let you know.
Thanks so much Ann

Hi Shera,

Just an update on Harriett Porter. I now have her birth certificate, and it's the right one. William Porter of Darwin Street and mother Mary Tatten. So just the variant on the spelling of Tatton.
So thank you so much for your help and giving me the death of Harriett, so I could confirm Mary's name.

All the best
Ann
