Fisher and Ludlow Pantomimes

Historynut

master brummie
My nextdoor, Francis Fletcher, used to write and produce the annual Fsher and Ludlow pantomime. Now this may sound amateurish but to my eyes it was the height of professionalism. It was staged at a theatre in town and was a superb evenings entertainment. I think the dame each year was called Stan and the height of sophistication was the dance routine in the dark with the dancers wearing luminous costumes. Did anyone else go to these wonderful productions?

hi guys i found it intresting to read that thread ; but what came to my mind because we have named alot of big companies
all but one and i am sure people will remember some memo;s and that was hardy and spicers ; as on my first leaving school my first encounter was hardy spicers of chester rd and i learnt to operate a platform truck mobile to run up and down the gang ways to keep the machine operators busy to keep them earning
there piece work money the money was good but hard earned i had two days traing by the works health and safety officier before getting the test and licece to runfreely up and downbut i passed with flying colours at a later stage in my lfe my siste married a big guuy whom a worked all is life there is name was alfred summers
but sadly afew years back he died and as hardys was a huge company i was wondering whether or not is it still there or nor in erdinton
and does anybody hold memories of this huge company to tell us of my grand father ran the cafe in holly lane erdington
and the closes firm was the fort dunlop and when he died i eventualynot so long back found an old obituary in an old news paper which stated that they thankedall the people of the dunlop for all therecondonences and floral arrangements for the funeral of my grand fathers in 935 ;
i know dunlops have been mentioned on here but what about good old hardy spicers ;
seasons greeting to each and every one of you for 2012 ;; astonian
