Featherstone One Name Study

wpaulf

Featherstone Researcher
I have been putting together a database of Featherstone (and variants) since before 1997. I joined the forum because I found lots of Featherstone's in the area, ( I did live in Solihull (Shirley) for a while and still have family in the area. I don't have the funds to buy certificates for the 60,000 entries in my database, so rely on those people researching the name in their own family tree to help fill in some of the detail. I have entries from the GRO indexes from 1837- 1960's and some times later. I am trying to match those entries to the census entries 1841-1911. This enables me to build family trees, I will post here when I find I cannot match or find Featherstone's.
If you do have Featherstone information please reply. My study covers all the variants I find.
Featherstone
Featherston
Fetherstone
Fetherston
adding haugh to the end of all of those. plus a few more that take into account regional accents, like Feverstone, Featherson, Fatherson and one in the USA Featherstun.

If you are on Facebook we have a group for Featherstone's and those researching the name search for Featherstone Society and request membership.

I also produce a quarterly electronic newsletter "The Featherstone Family News" but that will cost you, details on the web site.

My half uncle - Mothers half brother married a Featherstone, but we have now found that she was a Cottom, given away at birth - not legally adopted - and only told when she was 21 - Her marriage is down Featherstone. She passed away in 2009 in Australia where the family had emigrated to. Does he qualify for your research? If not it would be nice to try and find her adoptive Featherstone parents.
I have sent a join request to the facebook page.

Cheers
Brian
