A member is interested in the Farr family. I copy her posy below:

Hi everyone,
My husbands mothers family were residents of William Henry Street in 1939. Benjamin Farr and his wife Lily, c/o 42 William Henry Street, plus husbands mum Joan who was 7.
According to husband at some point Benjamin went from being a steel labourer in 1939 to being the landlord of the Hen and Chickens.
The Farr’s were well known in the area and knew the Taronis who are still in the area.
Does anyone have any information about the pub, the Farr’s or any other well known families in the area after the war and during the 50s?
Thank you
Sally

Technically the Hen & chickens is listed as in Rocky Lane (it is on the corner) at no 129. The directories 1940 to 1950 show it as being in the hands of the Harbon family. The directories for 1955 and 1956 show it as John Howlings. After that no landlord is listed in the directories. that does not , of course preclude him being there in other years (Note date of directories is publication date an probably refers to year before)

Appear to be at 42 William Henry St until the 60s.

Numerous Farr/Taylor (Lily) children registered including at least 2 who died young (Benjamin & Ronald).

Pub is still there, now called Shanahans.

Interestingly they are listed at 2 William Henry Street on 1935 eroll

Not every year is on Ancestry but 1939, 1950, 1955, 1957. 1960 erolls have Benjamin and Lily still at 42 William Henry Street.
This is 1955
