Emmanuel Hall

I am looking to write a piece for the Handsworth site on Emmanual Hall - Holyhead Road, Handsworth

I am particularly looking at The Sunday School and 'The Storey's' the family who were the preachers there during the time I hope to write about. I think they eventually became missionarys, they certainly supported missionary work, when they were at Emanuel Hall. They used to take the Sunday School children to a Bible College in Birkenhead for a week in the Summer School Hols.

Any info - no matter how small would be appreciated and useful - please PM me or email

Many Thanks

well I think it was/is a Wesleyan Holiness church.
I guess that bible college is The Nazarene one (as they share similar theology/belief)

In the mid 80's I knew a chap, David Bevin, who used to go there with his elderly mom (he had joined our less traditional church) ...he may have been there when young...whether his mom is still alive, I don't know.
We have lost touch with him but some good friends are still in touch with him.
If you want I can ask him, maybe through them, for any info.  :)

I found a picture of the Hall on facebook this a.m. - my cousin in Brumposted the triumphant baggies returning to hawthorns and their coach is just passing the Hall its a nice picture will try and download it and attach it
