My Nan's name was Sarah Grace Crump. She was born near the Drury Lane theatre, London. For a time she was in service somewhere in Perry Barr. I found out today that my Nan was engaged to Edith Cavell's brother John. He died in WWI. My Nan eventually married my Grandad, Henry (Harry) Luckman. She was 29 and he was 9 years her junior. I just wanted to share this with someone. We think of our Nans as just our Nans, but they were young once, with lives many of us know so little about.

All too true Gwen, that's why we should pass things on to our children and grand children or write it all down while we're still able to.

Graham.

That story about your Nan is really fascinating Gwen. I think we all too often forget that our Nans and Granddads were all young once and had/have a story to tell, and like Graham said, we should try to write our stories down for future generations. If I could find a diary or journal belonging to one of my ancestors I would be over the moon. Judy

PS I was in Edith Cavell House when I was at school !!
