Wouldn't this be a great book to translate completely for the public to read through for themselves?? I would love to read this and see how England was back then.

Cromwell, the names are completely fascinating and very close to those local names we recognize today. Elizabeth, yes it would be great if they did publish a totally readable version
of the Domesday Book. People. in general, these days are very interested in tracing back their roots and going back that far is the ultimate.

Domesday is translated, published by Phillimore, county by county. The ISBN sumber for Warwickshire is
0 85033 142 0. WH Smith will order them for you. :)

Thank you for that - I shall email WHSmiths after the holidays and ask about this - as it sure will be an interesting read - I will ask for the list of numbers for different areas and post any reply I get incase anyone else is interested as I am sure other areas would be linked to many peoples research (for my own maybe Staffs, Worcs etc..too) Be interesting to see how much this costs I reckon.

Although I am some way off having done my research this far back yet - this would make such an interesting read !!!

If you type Phillimore & Co Ltd Bookshop into Google, then type Domesday into the searach box all the counties are listed. I have the 'Limp' version, it has a linen finish cover and is £7.30.

Easier for our overseas members, and I should have thought of doing that before I posted earlier.

Thank you - I just had a look on that website and some brilliant books there to buy!!! I could spend a fortune on books there.

I shall sure be ordering this copy for warwickshire the first chance I get O0
