I first visited the Bull Ring centre as a teenager in the early 1990's and I remember thinking how shabby and down market the place looked and felt. The only nationwide chain stores I remember seeing were traces of the former Mothercare store and the former Woolworths was a shop selling cheap goods in part of the store whilst the rest of the (very large) store was roped off.
In the rest of the centre the fixtures and fittings as well as the signage looked straight out of the 1960's.
By contrast the Pallasades seemed far more welcoming and modern in the early 1990's and the centre obviously had been refurbished
During it's life span were there any refurbishments or major work carried out on the 1960's Bull Ring prior to the total redevelopment we know today?
