His Pension attestion papers are on Ancestry UK. He enlisted on 1 September 1914, Rifle Brigade, No Z 958. Unfortunately he was discharged from the army on 14 December 1914. The reason for Discharge was Kings Regulations (iii) Not being likely to become an efficient soldier. (probably due to medical reasons)
He only served in the Uk and was not entitled to any medals.

Regards

Terry

He had varicose veins, Jane. Here's the document with his pension award, and names and date of births of his children.
And his attestation (joining up) paper.

wow thank you is there anyway of seeing them more clearly?
many thanks

Click on the picture, and when it comes up in a dark surround click on "Open Original" bottom left, then when a new version opens click on that (your screen pointer will have become a magnifying glass with a + in it). Move around the image (it'll be bigger than your screen) by the sliders under and to the right of the screen page.
It's a new page, so click on the X top right when you've finished with it, and try the other one!
