I am researching the family of my four greats grandfather, John Dickins. When he married my four greats grandmother Ann Campbell at Stafford in 1811, he was described as being of the parish of S Martins, Birmingham, and then his first children were registered at St John's Deritend.

Below are some entries from directories around that time, remembering that spelling and proofreading of books were not very good at that time. What I particularly noted was that they all were from around that area.
1815
Dicken John Stubbs, attorney, Moat Row
Dickins John, gentleman, Camp-hill
1823
Dicken and Benson, attorneys, 25, Digbeth
