Hi Astoness.
You have made my day with the photo of Devon Street as my Aunt Vi who was a absolute snob and made our lives hell when we were little was born there on the 30th of July 1904 according to her Baptism record, how the mighty would have fallen.

Regards Steerboy.

KIRWAN family.
We lived in 8/59 Devon St in 1960. My mom and dad were Annie and Michael Kirwan. They had 8 children Marie, Colette (that's me) Clare, Angela, John, Patrick, Frances and Eileen. Our neighbours were:-
Rita and Jimmy Hinks and daughter Maureen, Madge and Henry Bishop with gran Ivy and daughter Olwen, (Henry was a coalman) Freda and Bobby Owen and their 4 children. Nellie Brodie and her daughter Joyce Brodie and her daughter Lynne Brodie. The Killagrews Rita and Eddie (Rita use to babysit us) The Herons Betty, Margaret & Mary Heron. The Rusks Rita, Christine & Carol. There was two shops Mrs Harts and Mrs Pits. The smell of the Gas works. Playing on the bomb peck at the end of Devon St. Guyfawkes outside the Sportsman pub. "penny for the guy.' Taking the kids to Adderly park with Jam sarnies and bottle of sugar water.
Those were the days! What fun we had.

This is very late, but just found your post after searching for Jimmy Hinks. Sadly, Jimmy and Rita (an aunt) have passed away. However, daughter Maureen is well, and now living in Sutton Coldfield. We (Aherne family, minus Mum who was in hospital) stayed with Rita and Jim briefly in 1960, after return from Berlin. Forces family. Then children were whisked off to Father Hudsons. Possible overcrowding? Anyway, Thanks for the approx. address which I never got written down!
