There are two Dean families in the town of Lewiston, Niagara County, New York in the US in the 1800s. One of them is the family of Frederick W. Dean, born ca 1799 England. The other is the family of Edgar S. Dean, born in 1815 at St. Martin, Birmingham, Warwick, England. He came to the US as a young man. His descendants know that he was from this location in England and that his father's name was Thomas Dean.
There are similarities in the naming pattern for the children of these two families, plus other possible connections. It seems possible that Frederick, my gr gr grandfather, and Edgar were related.
My question is, on the baptism records for St. Martin's parish in the 1790s (or maybe 1800-1802), is there a baptism for Frederick W. Dean and are his parents listed? None of his paper records in the US give any hint where he was from in England. From family stories, we think he did not want to be connected with his home area or relatives in England, once he came to America (around 1820-1822.
I would be very appreciative if someone who has access to St. Martin's parish records could see if there is a Frederick W. Dean listed. Thank you.
