I've been to Sutton Park twice this week now, with various grandchildren, giving their mums a rest. It was lovely to get back to the park; last time I was there I was a mere girl and we used to go regularly then. It's even bigger than I remember it. I strongly remember the little brook that runs through it and if I'm correct, this same brook runs somewhere along the bottom of Cattell Drive also, where my cousin used to live and we used play around the brook when we visited them. The kids loved it this week; plenty of space for them to kick their ball around, plenty of space to walk and to sit down and eat. We spotted yellow butterflies and heard (and saw, from a distance) what I thought might have been a nightingale. It was only a small bird with the same colouring of a sparrow but what a song it sung; beautiful. We watched a spaniel bounding in and out of the brook having the time of its life and a couple of girls rode their bikes back and forth through it. There was ice cream, fruit drinks, chips and hot dogs etc for sale. All the children played happily while their mums watched and chatted. It turned out to be like a summer's day today, it was glorious, and it won't be long before I'm back there. It was a splendid day out, as it was on Monday.
