After reading the various posts on Davis' I can see it's going to be a mammoth task! John Davis [ born 1872 Birmingham ] enlisted in the Somerset Light Infantry in 1891 aged 18 years. He names his brother William as next of kin ,living at 21 Chapel St, Swan Village, West Bromwich, so I assume his parents are dead. But I can't find William in Chapel St. in 1891. John came out of the army in 1903 but I have no information on where he went. He next seems to turn up in Manchester but as 'davies' . I won't go on because though I have more information it doesn't always add up. He is a frustrating mystery! If anyone has any information or ideas on where I can go to next, I would be most grateful. He lists his religion as CofE.
