Hi Chris Thanks for that - yes the name is spelled all different ways - sometimes with an 'I' othertimes an 'ing' It was orginally spelled D'alston the apostropy was drepped and the 'r' and 'a' added later. Samuel Darlaston and Lucy Fenton were my grandad's great grand parents-

I must say it is all sheer curiosity on my part regarding the 'Webbs' I have a letter written dated 30 -V1-33 to my grandad from his cousin Nelly- "Do you Know the last of the Webb's. who have robbed the Darlaston's of their money and estate is dead, and is leaving ₤45,000 of Grandfather's money to charities?'

Excerpt
'In 1830 to 1833 Samuel Darlaston was fighting the case on to fronts One that his great uncle was a batchelor and didn't leave a will - the other, grandpa didn't know what crimes the Webbs had committed to get his great uncle's Estate of his death.'

However, the estate was all settled out of court on May 4 1934. Dad's cousin received all the money left because grandad's older brother Albert, had died, it naturaly went to son William.

The Darlaston family once lived at Elford Hall Tamworth - My grandad would ride his bike to see the old place. However, in the 1930"s Elford Hall became a girl's boarding school after that it was turned over to Birmingham trust - and after the war it was demolished

What I would like to know is where the Webbs, fit in our family tree? Who married whom. . . I just can't think of any other way they would be able to get the hands on any monies - My dad would have known - but these letters I have didn't come to light till after their deaths. . .
