Hi Paget: Could it have been Stella Maris? I remember seeing a sign many years ago with that name on it in Wood End Road, Erdington.

Re: woodend road erdington dance studios

Hello Padget, Sorry I do not remember the name of the Studio, but I certainly remember Bob & Pat Prince.
We used to compete against each other in the good old days.
I think Desmond and Eileen Evans shared the same studio. { was a long time ago!! }
Have you got any medals or did you compete?? { God Bless Victor Sylvester }
Betty

hi betty yes a bronze medal in ballroom i married my dancing partner i was there from 1964 to 66 then back around 1970 for a while im trying to find pat ot bob princr any idea thanks

Hello Padget,
I have not had much luck finding Bob and Pat Prince for you.
However I have discovered that Pat now lives in Blackpool so that's something at least.
They were Members of the N.A.T.D. National Association of Teachers of Dance so they may be able to help.
They have an information line...... info@NATD.org.uk they should have a list of members, so worth a try.
Good Luck, BETTY

hi betty how did you find pat in blackpool because she remarried to a douglas george around 2005 i was told she or they teach dancing on cruise ships ok

Hi all used to pass their quite often on the No 11 bus in the sixties, think they were called the woodlands dance studio's, Dennis

Hello Padget,Glad you are making some headway. I spoke to the President of the Dance Council but he did not mention the cruise ships.
I think these trips are seasonal so it could be that their home base is Blackpool.
The cruise ships pay is very good and quite a few dancers do it just for a season and the same with some holiday venues.
BETTY.

Re: woodend road erdington dance studios

Hello John,So glad you found Pat.I expect she was glad to hear from you after all this time.I suppose we were in opposite camps at the time we were dancing. { about 57 / 58 ? We were trained by Bobby Short in Birmingham but I think Bob & Pat had lessons up north.
We often went to London to compete and have lessons it was a hectic life. One week we went to Nottingham Palais to Compete and a couple of days later we went to Torquay to compete.
My ex husband opened a dance school in Bromsgrove { having decided he had had enough of me.}My Grandaughter, Ellie Meade teaches dance so I am pleased to still have some connection.Those really were the days !.Lovely to hear from you.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS, Betty Hopper
