On behalf of my wife I am trying to find a Maureen Dale who attended Nansen Girls School. My wife Patricia (nee: Flynn) was bridesmaid to Maureen who lived Malthouse Lane.
if there is anyone who also new Maureen. i would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks, Brian J. N

Hi Brian, Welcome to the forum. Have you looked at the Friend's Reunited
web site: www.friendsreunited.co.uk You can put the name of the school
in their search engine and there is a lot online re Nansen Girls and lists
members who have gone to that school. Looks like you can post a message if you are trying to trace someone. It all depends on what year Maureen attended and who would have attended at the same time. There is a Maureen Dale who went to Erdington Grammar School listed in the names section of the general site. The menus for searching are at the top of the page. The site is free.

Thank you for your welcome message and suggestion re: Friends Reunited.
I am already a member of Friends Reunited however my people search for Maureen Dale from Nansen Girls school was not successful. The ex-Erdington Grammar School Maureen Dale is not the girl according to my wife. Many thanks for your message. Brian.

Hi Brian: Sorry it didn't work out on Friends Reunited to find Maureen. It is much harder to locate females of course due to the fact that they marry and change their names. I was wondering if the Birmingham Mail still has
a column where people who are searching for other people can put messages.Good luck. Someone on our site might know her. You can also try the Birmingham Mail find forum. It's on their web site on the left hand side menu. Birmingham forums. https://icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

If your wife Patricia cannot remember the married name of Maureen Dale can she recall the year she was bridesmaid ?
This would narrow down a search in looking for Maureen and her husband.

Was Malthouse Lane , her home before marriage or after ?

Did Maureen have any siblings ?

The newspaper Sunday Mercury has a trying to find section but I am sure you will have help from others on this site , so dont give up.

Also your post may be lost in the welcome section, you may need to
re- post in the surname section.

Maureen Dale lived in Malthouse Lane before she married in 1960-1961. Do not know her husbands surname but his first name was either Ken or Kevin who lived in Aston. They married in St marks church, Washwoodheath Road.

Where would I find the surname section on the B'ham history Forum site?

Hello Brian,

I do not have Parish records for that church, but the marriage would also be recorded in Civil Registration.
I have searched years 1960 -1963
There are only a handful of females with the surname Dale married in Birmingham during that period .
I was unable to find a Maureen .

This suggests to me either she did not marry during those years, or that I have overlooked entry ( searched twice ) or that her name was not Maureen.

I have found a Marriage for-

Clarice M Dale to Kenneth Burgess

Registered in Jan- Feb- March Quarter 1962 in Birmingham.
Marriage may have been end of Nov or during Dec 1961 , but entered into next quarter of the following year.

I was hoping once found that I may find Maureen and her husdand on the Electoral Roll.

Do you have an estimated year of birth for Maureen ?

Names of her Parents or her brothers or sisters or even friends from work would help narrow the search .

Surname Interests or any other section can be found by clicking on home, scrolling down to Surname sect A-D for Dale.

Thank you for your endevours in trying to assist me.

I have sent an email to the Birmingham Registry Office asking if i can trace Maureen's married name and have received the following response:
"This is an automated response from Birmingham Register Office. If you wish to contact us please e-mail register_office@birmingham.gov.uk
Thank you for your E-mail. It will be passed to the appropriate section who will reply to you within the next few working days. If you have applied for a certificate using our on-line application form, we will not make charges to your card until a successful search of the records has been made. Your receipt will be sent with your certificate. If the search is not successful we will contact you. Due to the high number of applications we are receiving your application may take a few days to be processed."

Will keep you posted.

Marriages, unlike birth's or death's, are recorded at the time of the event, hence the signing of the register, so would appear in the correct quarter. Birth's and death's have a set time limit after the event to be registered and can indeed be recorded in the following quarter, hope that is clear

I have looked and found nothing better than the one Bo found, it could be she was known/used her middle name rather than Clarice. There is nothing coming up for Maureen in births, the only other thing we could try is if you know her parents names we could look for their marriage, this would give us her mothers maiden name, go back to births looking for a Dale birth with that mmn and hopefully confirm christian name
