Cycle Shop near Handsworth station

Shortie

master brummie
I am told by an old lady of 94 that her grandfather (my gt grandfather's brother) had a cycle shop near to Handsworth Station, which is at the Hockley end of Soho Road. Would someone be able to have a look and see if she is right please. I suspect the time we are talking about is around 1905. She believes the shop was owned by John Hemms (Hems) but according to his death certificate he was a cycle maker journeyman, so it was not his own shop, obviously. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

In 1900 there is a
John Hemms cycle maker, 152, Newhall Street there's also a
Arth. Hemms & Son, 171, Tennent Street.

Thanks Colin - I knew about the Newhall Street, but the Arth. Hemms - could it possibly be Alfred? I know of no Arthur, but my gt grandfather lived in Tennant Street and was called Alfred. I am therefore presuming there is nothing later than that for Hemms. Is there a cycle shop on Soho Road in the low numbers please? John's grandaughter who is 94 tells me he had a shop on Soho Road near the station. I am assuming the shop would have been owned by someone else.

There's no cycle shops listed on Soho Road in 1900, thats the nearest Kelly's I've got, but there could have been at a later date.

In 1904 "The Main Wheeleries" was at 117 Soho Rd, which was 4 houses past holliday Road.
