Cropping Photos

Lady Penelope

master brummie
Could someone explain how to crop photos on Windows 10 please? Every time I try to crop the pictures it reduces them from the corners and I sometimes only want to crop one side. Some years ago I scanned some photos with more than one to a page and now I want to post them on a new thread which Lyn has started. I have windows 7 at work and can still do it on there. I'm obviously doing something wrong. Thank you.

I'm including one of the pages.

If you put the cursor on the vertical and /or horizontal lines, you can crop anywhere you want...make sure that you are in custom mode.

I use "Windows10" Photos App. Get yourself a full screen picture, Select "Edit & Create"(top right) then "Edit" then "Crop & Rotate" Do whatever needs doing, you can crop any mixture of horizontal and/or vertical. Then select "Done" Then you can either "Save a Copy", if you want to keep the original or "Save" if you are happy to loose the original. Good Luck!

but if you are not in the custom mode...all planes will move when you place the cursor on the vertical or horizontal plane.

The standard Windows Paint app can also be used. It is built into Windows and has been with every version since Windows 3.1.
Type 'Paint' in the search box and you will find it.
Screenshot below ...
1 Select and choose the part of the pic you want ... see faint dotted rectangle I've selected.
2. Click Crop and then 'Save As' with different name for your cropped pic. Don't use 'Save' otherwise it will overwrite original.

By George I've got it!
Thanks to all you kind gentlemen for your help. It's very much appreciated. I shall now put the pictures on the other thread.
