Many years ago me and my fellow preservatiionist would meet at the Bull Ring Bus Station, and make our way to Wythall to work at the museum, now the point of my post, at the Bull Ring Bus Station there was underneath the escalators a newagents that sold other stuff, amongst the other stuff were was a bag orange stuff in colour (I think) that when we had dinner in the caravan we would place the cantents into a frying pan the stuff would the expand into squares sort off, it used to fill us up any idea what it was called and can I still get it?

if anyone asks was it popcorn the anwer is no

We had some stuff to make puffed up crispy things like prawn crackers, it was from Bingley Hall (Happy Days!). They were clear discs like a 10p. and you had to drop them into hot oil in a pan.
My husband said he used to get something called Frizzits??
rosie.

Not sure what the name was but they used to sell Uncooked Prawn Crackers at Sainsbury's years ago. You can buy them cooked and uncooked at Wing Yip Supermarket in Nechells. Most Chinese grocery stores would sell them. If you can't get over to Nechells you can go to "Day in Supermarket" close to the Bull Ring. I discovered their original shop many years ago and they are still in business in Brum. You can buy prawn crackers there. https://www.dayin.co.uk/our-shop/

I went to the indoor Bull Ring Market today, The Chinese grocery stall hadn't got them but she ran over to the larger stall to fetch some for me!! 99p for a1/2lb packet. Can't wait to try them!!
