Walter Henry Solomon Cox born 1847 Birmingham, was the son of Joseph Cox born 1816 Tanworth in Arden, Warwickshire and Mary born 1817 Birmingham, I have been unable to find a marriage for Joseph Cox and Mary. As well as Walter, they had six children. Joseph Cox was a Fruiterer in 1871 and 1881, living at 46 Sherlock Street, Birmingham. After the death of Mary in 1872, Joseph married Louisa Owen. they had one son Alfred, born 1877 Birmingham.

Walter married Emily Jane Cooper in 1875 at Saint Martin, Birmingham and they had eight children namely one, George Arthur born 1884 Birmingham, who married Ethel Hildegard Bayliss in 1907 at Edgbaston. Ethel and George had one son called Arthur Stanley M. Cox born 1912 Kings Norton.

The Cox family are related to my husband.

Please get in touch if you recognise any of the above names.

Regards,

Lynne

Do you have Walter's birth certificate and know Mary's name before she married. I found a marriage for Joseph Cox to Mary Hulston, Edgbaston 19th June 1837

I don't know any of your Coxs Lynne but my father in law was William Arthur Cox born cMarch 1897 in Aston. E.

Hi Eric, thank you for your message, unfortunately I don't recognise William Arthur Cox, do you know who his parents were?

Thank you for your message, I don't have Walters birth certificate although I do know that he was born on 27th July 1847. The marriage you have found and thank you for sharing this with me, seems reasonable, although Joseph and Mary had a daughter called Mary who was born on 23rd August 1837, Mary may have been pregnant when she married. I will apply for Walters birth certificate to find out more.

Thanks again,
Lynne

Sorry Lynne, I haven't any more information on William Arthur Cox except what I've found on the net, I never met him, he died young leaving my Ma in Law as a widow in her mid 40s with 8 children, my late wife was the second youngest.

They're all gone now except I believe the youngest, John, who is a trout farmer in Australia and would be around 70 years old. E.
