Can any one tell me where to look for marriage records prior to 1837? I am looking for the marriage of William Cooper to Eliza ? probably around 1832ish Aston Manor. In 1841 they were living in the parish of St George Birmingham. The Cooper family were jewellers.

Before 1837 you have to check church registers.
On the IGI there is a William Cooper and Eliza Wiseman married 19 Aug 1832 Aston Juxta.
For those who don't know the IGI stands for International Genealogical Index. These are records held by the Latter Day Saints taken from church registers sadly they are not complete, there are some errors especially where people have sent information that has not been verified. It is always a good idea to check with the original registers. Birmingham registers are at Birmingham Central Library. If you want to check the IGI go to the familysearch web site and on the opening page click onto where it says advanced search then you will go to another page with a list down the left side click on IGI and just fill in the boxes. I will mention there seems to be a slight problem at the moment as the site is running slow or freezing this may be due to people checking the 1881 census and adding names to the Lost Cousins web site. I think I have covered the subject but if not I am sure the knowledgeable people on this site will help good luck Moma P:)

Aint it nice when people will go out of their way to help each other and it aint even for moneterian gain.
