Cookes Mary and Edward 1799

Hi, can anyone help, I have found my 3 x great grandfather Edward Cookes who was baptized on 27/10/1800 at St Martins, Birmingham, Warwickshire son of Mary Cookes, with no fathers name. The next time I find Edward is in the parish of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire marring Hannah Turbefield on the 28/12/1817. Is their any way of finding who is father was and where they were living in St Martins before he was born and what happened to him and his mother from 1800 to 1817 ?. I just am unable to find any records unless anybody might know where I can look. Thank you.

If he was the illegitimate son of Mary Cooke then the chances are finding his father is virtually zero.

However, that he is the son of Mary is also debatable. Baptism date does not always indicate the year of birth and there are other possibilities.

Unless you can find a connection between Edward and Mary later on then - a child living with a relative, a relative living with Edward etc - then I wouldn't be sure that your Edward is the son of Mary.

Also what happened between his birth and marriage will probably be impossible to find out sadly, there just aren't the records available.

One of his sons being called Fergus O'Connor Cooke could be something. I don't think that's a name that you would pick randomly, though it could be from his mother's side.

Also in the same area in 1841 & 1851 there is an Edward Cook/Cooke b1777 Bham. Wife Maria. One of your Edward's daughters is Ann Maria.
