On virtual Brum there is a drawing by Arthur Smith, contributed by Carol Peel, of Cockshutt Hill Cottage, Sheldon/Yardley. Both myself and my brother were so thrilled to find it. I grew up opposite that cottage. My best childhood friend, Pam, lived there. It had such a large wonderful garden (well to us it was large) and so many trees to climb and we even had a singing tree. It was magical. Bonfire nights spent 'bobbing the apple'. Playing 'William Tell' and out of that game, I nearly lost my eye, but we still thought of it as part of growing up and being 'a kid'. The Dovecote Public House stands there now. Here is the drawing of the cottage and a photo of myself in the garden of Cockshutt Hill Cottage.
And the tree on the left, I fell out of and impaled myself on the plough, that was underneath the tree. My mom was always at the Accident Hospital with one of us!
I would love to know more about the person, who did this drawing.
