Clara Elizabeth Hughes was b 1888 Kings Heath.on the 1911 census she was living at 78 Melton Rd
Kings Heath with sisters Emma and Alice May.In 1915 she was a witness at Alice's wedding who was
still living at 78 Melton Rd.In 1928 Emma was married still at 78.Alice was a witness.
Will some kind person have a look at the Electoral Rolls to see what happened to Clara?

Looking at 78 Melton Rd, Hughes's were there as you say until c 1935, when another name takes over.
There is a Clara Elizabeth Hughes listed 1920/5/30 at 348 Washwood Heath Road, a second 1930 117 Minstead Road Erdington, and one 1939 9 Chadwick Avenue Northfield.

Strangely there is a Clara Elizabeth Hughes marriage registered 3rd quarter 1957 (she would have been 69, if it is the same person) to Joseph G Homer (3rd q. 1957 Birmingham vol 9c page 1206).
There was a Joseph Gregory Homer birth 1st q. 1894 Aston vol 6d page 308 (if the same one, he would have been 63). An address for him is 250 Grotto Vaults, Camden Street in 1930/5/9.

1912 Emily.!930 Elsie and George Hughes were cousins of Alice,Emma and Clara Elizabeth.Emily and George would have been
living at 92 Institute Rd just around the corner from 78 Melton Rd.
Alice May married George Jinks in 1915.George seems to have died in 1918.when I saw Alice in the 1940's she lived on the Bournville estate
Emma married Arthur Fletcher in 1928,they lived in Coalbrook Dale.She died in 1949.
I was fourtunate to see Alice and Emma on a regular basis.
Clara Elizabeth remains a complete mistery.Would you be good enough to look at the electoral rolls using the name to find an address after 1911 when she was 23 a daily help

Just picked up on this old post and found the family tree of a Derek Ingram on ancestry.
He has Clara Elizabeth hughes 1888 Kings Heath parents parents William Henry Hughes and Emma nee Faulkner
her death 9th april 1927 Spokane, Washington ,USA.

moved this thread to Surnames.
