I have a christening of Philip Richard Seaton in 1838
his Father was james Seaton mother was only given as Ann how can I find out what her maiden name was

Hi Lanny just had a quick look and there is no mothers maiden name. They lived in Warwick Street and James was a greengrocer. If you can find a marriage record that may give the information.
 
Wendy I have know idea what a greengrocer is I have philips marrage certificate in 1860 and it shows his fathers professtion as veterinary surgen
I am totaly stuck I will try and find James marrage

Lanny, A greengrocer is someone who mainly sells vegetables.

I wonder if this is of help?
Could be that Mitton is Ann's maiden name.

I looked up mitton as you suggested and found Mitton in Antrim but I did not find a marriage for an ann and James .
I will keep looking but I think Ireland my be were I am going to have to look.

I was thinking that maybe James joined the forces ? our my be he when back to school .On philips marrage certificate in 1860 James occupation is listed as Veterinary surgin
My dads older sister who was the one that remembered the most about our family in England told us that we came from Scotland ?
