Hi I am trying to find out anything possible about my Grandads involvement in both the first and second world wars as I believe he was involved in both in some capacity . He was discharged on 24.10.1919 and as I said was involved also in the second ww and his name is Charles Henry Field born in Birmingham in 1900.

The second part is his brother Frederick Field who as legend has it fought in the first ww but died of flu.....anything on him , any bit of info would be brilliant as this is all I have on either of them....thanks in advance everyone.

I have had a look at The National Roll Of The Great War but could not find them. The book only lists initals and does not cover Aston. There is a C Field in Watery Lane Small Heath. C.E. Field Ladypool Road Sparkbrook. F.G Field Bolton Road Small Heath. F.W. Field Highgate Road Sparkbrook. There are 15 Fields listed altogether. If I can help more let me know.

Hi Wendy...he (charles Henry Field) was in the Royal Flying Corps , discharged in 1919...dont know anything about Fred.....dont know if he was in the army or RFC....

I am sorry but nothing matches what you have. I must stress this book is far from complete but always worth a look.
