Hye, would a 1899-1900 medal be of any interest. We have contacted Aston Villa regarding a medal we have received via a bequeath, was wondering if anyone might know anything about it or if the family member we received this from is part of the extended family?
Thanks for your time

Hi David,
Was wondering if you could help us? as mentioned above we have been bequeathed a football medal for C Athersmith dated 1899-1900, I was wondering if the couple we received it from belongs to the Athersmith family or if he bought it somewhere, we cannot ask them as they are both deceased now and the family member who gave it to us was livig in S.Africa at the time.
Would be interested in your opinion.

Many thanks

Hi to D Glaze and J Kardine

There is a chance that I can help you with your question about the couple you received the medal from. I have some knowledge of the the family history in the twentieth century although this is by no means a full knowledge.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you - I have just returned from holiday. I will be willing to help you if I am abe to do so.

David A.

Hye David,

Thanks for returning my question, the couple we received the medal from was Fred Griffiths & Pamela Griffiths nee Williams [formerly of Lapworth, and Birmingham]. Obviously the family are scattered and not sure of there wereabouts, but the question is would fred be related to Charlie Athersmith. Also are you? We are not exactly sure as what direction to take with the medal, so we have approached Aston Villa Archivist, and they are prepared to either catologue it in the library or also willing to purchace it as a matter of historic memorabilia. I was interested in your thoughts on this matter, obviously if you are a member of the family I was wondering where Fred came into the possesion of the said medal. I have included my direct email address for your use as this may be more private possibly.
I look forward to hearing from you or anyone else who could shine a light on this subject.
