gone but not forgotten
Hi harbournenite
Many thanks for your reply yes I can recall the closing of the goods train to harbourne but I could not recall the year thanks for reminding me
That particular one single line up to harbourne coming from the city and bears off to the left after passing the monument lane
Train sheds and crossing over the the grand union canal towards harbourne there was a bridge just left of the canal
Where there was an inlet of water under the bridge there use to be shuttle backs where we would catch them and put them in jars and take them home
But they was dead by next morning but that particular rack as you know was for the goods trans
It came up behind summer field red and gillott red and all those roads to harbone
All
The locals called it the old bone name line, but also the local residences of those rd s. Through all there unwanted goods
Down the embankment it was miles and miles to harbourne and you name it it was on the tracks
Yes it was old Beecham of closing the railways put a end to the old bone a
Once again ma y thanks astonian,,,,,,,
