has anyone any information of an albert jack cartwright born 01/06/1913 he was my birth father and the only information i have of his birth is the above and he lived in lingard street? i have looked him up on other sites and i cannot find him on the bdm i am desperate to find a birth certificate to trace his parants but he does not exsist anywhere he is somthing of an anigma can anyone help please

I had a look at this in the early hours so i know you must have done some trawling to find that Death Reg, as for the birth, like you was unable to find his birth, the only one i found for an Albert J was in the 2nd qtr of 1917 - mmn Vaughan - Merthyr T 11a 1369, nothing in Brum

thanks for the information i have the information you gave me also i have his death certificate but i cannot find out anything about his birth just the date i have even got his army records and all that tells me is he was born in aston on his marrage certificate to my birth mother the address he gives is 2/30 lingard street saltley guess what i found 1/30 and 5/30 but no 2/30
very strange help anyone help please.
. anyway i used to live in erdington in my teens round road and weston road do you know them

I have found from experience that sometimes the second christian name is not always on the GRO index so do not disregard the entries for just Albert.
The nearest I have found is Albert Cartwright June qtr 1913 Stoke on Trent mmn Hodgkinson.
believe parents Frederick Cartwright/Elsie Hodgkinson married Stoke 1912

Does the marriage certificate to your mother have his fathers name.

i am very greatful for all the help i have been given i visited the birmingham library yesterday wed 28/ feb i am afraid i liked it the way it used to be but that is my own opinion i did search the electoral register books and found the address i said did not exist 2 back 30 lingard street aston where my father put down as his address on wedding certificate he did not put any parants name down .i went to the gro in birmingham and they searched his birth year 01/06/1913 and 2 years ether side and found no trace of him
the ocupants of the address he gave on the marrage certificate is
1920 sheen rosihg
1928-1929 eagle ernest/louisa rose
1919-1930 eagle ernest/louisa rose
1933-1934 rooker rose
1935-1936 " "
1938-1939 " " 1939 is when he married my mother
1945 hall minnie
1945-1447 " "
i did notice apart from 1928 to1930 there was only women occupied the house hmm have you any ideas please ?

i am afraid the marriage certificate has a line through where his fathers name should be

Hi Brian, just a thought, have considered that the person who Albert thought was his father, was not his father. This happened with my father's family, he had an uncle who now turns out only to be the half brother of his mother. When her parents married they just changed the surname of the wife's child to that of her husband. This could be the reason why the father is not named on the marriage certificate.
 
Brian, this maybe a daft question but have you contacted any of the people on Genesreunited who have an Albert Cartwright born 1913 in the area?

they may be related to you?
