Carl Wayne died peacefully at home on Tuesday morning aged 61

Carl was lead singer with The Move. He was born on 18 August 1943 in Dudley Road Hospital, Birmingham. After The Move, he joined the Hollies in 2000.

I reckon we lost a super performer here? with some fantastic hits. notably Flowers In The Rain, I Can Hear The Grass Grow.

Carl RIP

:D Sorry to hear about Carl, Rod :( I liked both The Move and THe Hollies - Saw The Hollies live twice here in NZ once in c1974 and again in 2000 - Both outdoor concerts 8)

Yes very sad to hear the news poor man he was only 61. I remember seeing him live when they were Carl Wayne and The Vikings.

I remember being in Cyprus in the late 60's listening to Flowers in the Rain, and crying because it made me home sick.

They really were a good band were they not? Bev Bevan, Trevor Burton ,Ace Kefford, Carl Wayne & Roy Wood, with some smashing songs that bring back a lot of memories...

What sad news about Carl Wayne. I hadn,t heard until reading these pages. Like Pam Smith, I too remember him from the Carl Wayne & The Vikings era. We had them in an old church-hall in Dollman Street, in the early 60s, and you knew they where destined for bigger things. Another sad loss to the music world. Thanks for the memories Carl. Rest In Peace.

I heard Danny Reddington on BBC WM this morning, they played some great tracks and had quite a few of his friends in the music world ring in to the programme.

One of the tracks played " These Miss You Nights" sang by Carl Wayne & Choral Union was brilliant and really showed the vocal qualities this man had. I never really rated the song as sung by Cliff, but by Carl it's simply terrific.

Nice sentiments BazzM

I have at last got myself a copy of Miss You Nights............. all I can say is, it's brilliant!!
