I am putting this in as a gesture of kindness, i have just read it in a magazine. Maybe some kind soul will know who this person is and will be able to help.
Rachel Burland is looking for connections to her family, below you will find her email address. i will not write all of her search material but this is whom she is looking for in Birmingham.

My late father was born in December 1939 in Birmingham please can anyone help me track him down. My grandmother was Ivy Lee of Beaumont road and she worked at Cadbury's, Bournville.

May not be of any help but the name Burland sounds as if it has its roots in the Netherlands or Flanders. It might even come from South Africa as that was once a Dutch colony and they still speak a Dutch dialect there called Afrikaans.

Bit difficult when there is no record of a Burland born in Birmingham in 1939
