thanks for that Barrie I know she marries a James Rowles in 1889 at Barton upon Erwell Lancs. But he turns up on the 1901 census in Walsall married to an Amelia Veness ? They have a son James jnr aged 4 months. so James and Miriam marrage didnt last long i am trying to find out what happend to her

Hi Robert. The marriage for Miriam and James is registered in the Dec Qtr of 1890 in Barton on Irwell, not 1889.  I just want to check that we are after the same girl (so to speakÂÂ
) The girl on the census in 1871 is still single in 1891 (see below) and as a Miriam Burgess married James Rowles in 1890 this can't be her, can it?

Robert. I've given the census's a good going over, and am getting nowhere. I really think you need to send for the marriage cert for James and Miriam, once we have their fathers names, we will have more of an idea of where we are going. If you do think of anything elsee, post again.
